Navmit Dhesi, a junior majoring in business administration-marketing, was named a 2016 Campus Compact Newman Civic Fellow. Campus Compact is a national coalition of nearly 1,100 colleges and universities centered on campus-based civic engagement. The Newman Civic Fellows Award honors inspiring college student leaders who have demonstrated an investment in finding solutions for challenges facing communities throughout the country. Dhesi is a student in Fresno State’s humanics program, and has served as a consultant for several organizations in the Central Valley, including Catholic Charities and Habitat for Humanity. She serves as one of Camp Kesem‘s volunteer directors at Fresno State. Newman Civic Fellows are recommended by college and university presidents in memory of Frank Newman, who dedicated his life to creating systemic change through education reform.  Each fellow has is featured on the Campus Compact website that profiles their engagement and commitment to long-term social change.
