The Red Wave community returns to Bulldog Stadium for the Bulldogs’ first football game of the 2017 season at 7 p.m. Saturday (Sept. 2) featuring the jersey retirement of one its accomplished alumnus, NFL quarterback Derek Carr. And with anticipated high temperatures for the day, Fresno State Athletics announced it is providing two cooling stations on the north side of the stadium behind sections 19/20 and 23/24. Also, Fresno State’s concessionaire Pardini’s will have over 20,000 bottles of water for sale. The jersey presentation will be supplemented with several souvenirs for fans including a Derek Carr No. 4 t-shirt placed on every seat inside Bulldog Stadium, furnished by Valley Children’s Healthcare. Also available will be Carr cheer cards, cups and a commemorative program. Making a return to Bulldog Stadium is beer sales in the new Beer Garden at a satellite area in the north and east sides of the stadium. Beer will not be sold by the existing concession stands. All guests purchasing alcohol will be wrist-banded; sales will stop at the end of the third quarter. Patrons will be able to take their beverages back to their seats and there will be a two-item limit per sale. A new smoke-free policy also goes into effect Sept.1 for all California State University campuses including Fresno State. Stadium seats, concourses and parking lots will be smoke, tobacco and vapor free as part of the Clear the Air campaign.
