The eighth annual National Night Out neighborhood block party will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, at Wesley United Methodist Church (1343 E. Barstow Avenue). In partnership with Associated Students Inc. at Fresno State, the event celebrates successful revitalization efforts made in the community surrounding Fresno State with a goal of engaging community residents in building connections and identifying local assets for enrichment, communication, and recreation. Featured resource booths include the Marjaree Mason Center, Central Valley American Red Cross and the Lock It Up Project. Fresno State Greek and on-campus organizations will host activities including raffles, a talent show and a watermelon eating contest. The event is free and open to the public.
