CineCulture to screen award-winning samurai drama ‘A Duel Tale (Hatashiai)’

CineCulture will feature a free screening of “A Duel Tale (Hatashiai)” at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 13 in the Peters Education Center Auditorium next to the Save Mart Center in the Student Recreation Center. Fresno State professor Dr. Ed EmanuEl will lead a post-screening discussion. The film stars Nakadai Tatsuya as Shoji Sanosuke, an elderly samurai forced to pick up his sword to protect those he loves.

An adaptation of a popular novel by the renowned author, Fujisawa Shuhei, this award-winning samurai drama is presented in Japanese with English subtitles. Parking is free after 4 p.m. on Fridays with no permit necessary in Lots P3 or P2. Sponsored by the Center for Creativity and the Arts.
