Fresno State honors Ray O’Canto with flag tribute

President Joseph I. Castro ordered Fresno State’s national and state flags to be posted at half-staff on Friday, Oct. 11, the date of services for Ray O’Canto, a former Fresno State student-athlete and baseball color commentator for Voice of the Bulldogs program from 2008 to 2013. He also hosted acclaimed shows, “Dine Out Along the Road” and “Beyond the Harvest” that highlighted the foods and history of places around the Central Valley. Mr. O’Canto died on Sept. 14 at age 60.

Mr. O’Canto’s memorial was held at 10 a.m., with a mass at Holy Spirit Catholic Church (355 East Champlain Drive, Fresno, CA), followed by a celebration of life and lunch at the church hall.
