University Theatre breathes new life into Shakespeare’s ‘As You Like It’

University Theatre presents “As You Like It,” written by William Shakespeare. The production is directed by Kathleen McKinley and runs Dec. 6 to 14, at the John Wright Theatre at the Speech Arts building on the campus of Fresno State. All performances at 7:30 p.m. except for a 2 p.m. matinee on Dec. 8. No performance Dec. 9. Tickets are $17 general; $15 for Fresno State faculty, staff, alumni and military; and $10 for students. Children under 5 not admitted.

Shakespeare’s sparkling comedy of betrayal, courtship, lust, and mistaken identity has been updated to a modern time-period. The daring Rosalind, unjustly banished, casts off societal constraints and unexpectedly finds truest love in this gender-bending romance. Parking is free for shows on Friday through Sunday night. For shows on Tuesday through Thursday night, $5 parking permits are required.
