Welcome Week activities at Fresno State begin on Friday, Aug. 24 with the New Student Convocation at 10 a.m. in the Satellite Student Union where University President John D. Welty and Associated Students President Juan Pablo Moncayo will address the students.

They will be joined by faculty and administrators who, wearing their traditional, colorful academic regalia, will proceed from outside the building at 9:45 a.m. for the convocation.

Presiding will be Dr. Jeri Echeverria, provost and vice president of academic affairs. Dr. Robert Levine, a professor of psychology and recipient of the Provost’s Excellence in Teaching Award, also will address the students.

Presented by the Student Activities and Leadership Development office in the Division of Student Affairs, Welcome Week provides opportunities for all students to become reacquainted with the campus.

A reception for new students will be held on the grassy area by the University Courtyard Dining Halls from 11 a.m. to noon when they can personally meet their respective deans.

Welcome Week continues through Wednesday Sept 5, culminating with the Civic Engagement and Service-Learning – Community Service Opportunities Fair.

Students may participate in activities such as entertainment, open houses by various academic departments and student services offices, barbecues, receptions, tours, orientations, athletic events and information exhibits.
