It’s official! The Guinness World Record for the largest smoothie is now held by a team of Fresno State marketing students.
Guinness announced it has verified the claim submitted by the students in Dr. Bill Rice’s Marketing 188 class. The students created a smoothie April 13 at PR Farms in Clovis that was 1,438 liters (380 gallons) of orange juice, frozen strawberries and yogurt, breaking the previous record by 50 gallons.
Team members Susana Villagomez, Anadelia Rodriguez, Jeremiah Martinez, Melchor Santillan and Modesto Araujo team donated their icy concoction to a homeless shelter.
“We learned the value of teamwork and thinking creatively outside the box to solve true business problems, all while having fun,” said Villagomez.
Theirs was one of eight teams in the class trying to break a world record during the spring semester. Two other teams reached their goal, but Guinness has yet to verify that a 310-foot sundae created April 28 or that 415 people uncorking wine simultaneously on May 4 also set records for Fresno State.
