The Fresno State  Alumni Association is encouraging current students to join its organization prior to graduating with its Hump Day Hangouts campaign featuring events at the Smittcamp Alumni House 4-7 p.m. Wednesdays.

The first event is today (Oct.16) as part of Homecoming Week. Activities include the 2013 Blue Light Stroll Off stomp/dance competition between multi-cultural fraternities and sororities on campus.

Food for tonight’s event will be sponsored by Buffalo Wild Wings. It will also feature games such as foosball, air hockey, ping pong and darts. Students who attend will receive tickets to the Bulldogs volleyball game Oct. 17. There will be special appearances by members of the volleyball and football teams.

The hangout is sponsored by the Bulldog Event Group, a nationwide full-event rental company based in Fresno that specializes in rare and hard to find products, rentals and equipment for youth, college and corporate event markets.

The Hump Day Hangout campaign includes the creation of a YouTube video that brought a live camel to campus in September: http://youtu.be/D5MTZU-stj4. Other Hump Day Hangouts are scheduled Nov. 13 and Dec. 18.

Blair E. Smittcamp, assistant director of Student and Alumni Engagement for the Alumni Association, said students are being recruited because the FSAA is  an all-inclusive membership model association, which means the minute students walk onto campus, they’re considered an alum.

“So for the FSAA, we want to make sure the students know they’re a Bulldog for Life, an Alum from Day One,” Smittcamp said, citing campaign themes. “We want to welcome them into the alumni house and make sure they know that we’re going to be a part of their collegiate career the moment they walk onto campus as well as far after graduation.”
