Victor E. Bulldog III captured the hearts of the Red Wave and beyond during his big debut at Fresno State in June when he was a 3-month old puppy. Now, he invites the community to his first birthday “paw-ty” from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 12, at the Smittcamp Alumni House.

Fresno State alumni, friends and supporters of all ages are welcome at the free celebration to sing happy birthday to Victor E. III and enjoy birthday cake with a scoop of Fresno State ice cream.

Guests can join him for games, music and photo opportunities.

Special dog performances will be provided by Melody Daggs Professional Dog Training, Mutts In Motion Flyball Team and PAWS Performance Dog Troop. Representatives from Fresno Bully Rescue and Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno will also be there with adoptable pets.

The Fresno State Alumni Association is hosting the event and hopes the occasion will increase awareness about the Victor E. Bulldog Fund, which was established to support and cover the cost to care for the live mascot. Visit FresnoStateAlumni.com to learn more or to donate to the fund.

Special partners for the birthday include Plato Pet Treats, Melody Daggs Professional Dog Training and Tailwaggers 2.

Victor E. III welcomes human friends of all ages, but asks that pets be left at home. Parking is free on weekends.

That day is also the university’s Preview Day for incoming fall 2016 freshman and transfer students. To conclude his birthday celebration, Victor E. will saunter over to the Free Speech Area at 12:30 p.m. north of the Henry Madden Library for photo opportunities with Preview Day students and their families. (March 4 is the deadline to register for Preview Day).
