His awards include a year-long science writing fellowship at MIT and recognition in several national competitions, including Investigative Reporters and Editors, National Press Club and the John B. Oakes Award at Columbia University. He was awarded a 2016 writing fellowship by the Alicia Patterson Foundation to write about the environmental risks of living in rural communities around the San Joaquin Valley.

A reception with hors d’oeuvres and a no-host bar begins at 6 p.m. The program starts at 6:45 p.m.
