Fresno State’s CineCulture film series and Filmworks join forces for two presentations of “Mountains May Depart” at 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Friday, April 8, at the Tower Theater (815 E. Olive Ave.). The Chinese drama follows the life of Tao and those nearest to her through three time periods: 1999, 2014 and 2025. The multi-generational story examines how China’s economic boom and a culture of materialism have affected the bonds of family, tradition and love. Tao’s story, both colorful and moving, shows more than just Chinese history; it’s an ever-changing study of what it means to be human. The 131-minute film is presented in Cantonese, Mandarin and English with English subtitles. Tickets cost $10 general admission and $8 for students and seniors and can be purchased online at FresnoFilmworks.org or at the Tower Theater box office.
