Three speakers will discuss “Constructing Jews” for the third installment of the Jewish Studies Symposium from 1-5 p.m., Thursday, April 7, at the Alice Peters Auditorium in the Craig School of Business.  The free public event is co-sponsored by the Department of Modern and Classical Languages and the Jewish Studies Program.  The speakers and times are: 1-1:45 p.m. with Murray Baumgarten of UC Santa Cruz discussing “2016: The Venice Ghetto at 500.” From 2-2:45 p.m., Matt Goldish of The Ohio State University will discuss “The ‘Old Yishuv’: The Jewish Community in the Land of Israel on the Eve of Zionism.” And from 3-3:45 p.m., Hasia Diner of New York University will discuss “The Lower East Side and American Jewish Memory.” A panel discussion from 4-4:30 p.m. follows the speakers.
