Fresno State students who performed more than 1,324 hours of service for this year’s Alternative Spring Break program were recognized at a reception April 8. The 34 students volunteered March 21 through 24 for three projects: Stone Soup Fresno, Scout Island and Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Central Valley. At Stone Soup, the team operated a four-day STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) camp for fourth through sixth grade students. The team also participated in a center beautification project and hosted a spring carnival. At Scout Island, the team worked on river clean-up, reforestation and invasive plant removal. The Ronald McDonald House team prepared meals, conducted home beautification and hosted activities for residents, including a movie night.
