The Sierra Madre community will host a free picnic with food, games and raffle prizes from noon – 3 p.m. Sunday, April 17 at the Masjid Fresno Islamic Center (2111 E Shaw Ave.). With support from Fresno State Associated Students, Inc. and several student and community organizations, the picnic is one of several events that are part of ASI’s Community Revitalization campaign to improve neighborhood conditions near campus. The effort started in 2011, when a non-fatal shooting in Sierra Madre caused fraternity houses in the neighborhood to lobby for change.    This event will include elected officials, as well as members of City of Fresno Police Department and the University Police Department at Fresno State.
