Guadalupe Garcia McCall, Arne Nixon Center for the Study of Children’s Literature Artist-In-Residence, will lead a panel discussion, “Our Place on the Shelf: A Cross-Disciplinary Discussion on Chicanx/Latinx Youth Literature,” from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 14, in the North Gym (Room 118) at Fresno State as part of her weeklong Magic of Story fellowship. McCall will be joined by Dr. Larissa Mercado-Lopez, Fresno State women’s studies professor; Dr. Cristina Hererra, Chicano and Latin American studies professor; and Dr. Laura Alamillo, chair of the Literacy, Early, Bilingual and Special Education Department. The panel will discuss critical themes, trends, works and teaching opportunities within Chicanx/Latinx children’s and young adult literature. Free refreshments will be provided.
