The Summit on Educational Interpreters for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Children will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Oct. 6 and 7, at Fresno State’s North Gym 118. Registration is now open online for administrators and educational interpreters. This free statewide summit will engage attendees in needs assessments and hold discussions on various topics, such as roles and responsibilities of teachers and interpreters of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. It also covers hiring and supervising interpreters, passing the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment, and incorporating state standards and curriculum goals in the interpretation. The summit is presented by The Silent Garden Program at Fresno State in collaboration with the Department of Communicative Sciences and Deaf Studies and the California Department of Education.
