The Department of Music at Fresno State presents Dr. Beatriz Ilari, an assistant professor of music education at the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music, as part of this year’s Global Music Lecture Series. Ilari will present two lectures on Thursday, March 8. The lectures are presented in conjunction with the Center for Creativity and the Arts 2017-18 theme “Voice and Silence: Expressions of Community and the Human Spirit.” The first lecture will be on “Learning in the Margins: Musical Experiences of Children from Underrepresented Groups,” from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the University Business Center in Peters Business (Room 191). The second lecture is on “Music Learning and Young Children’s Social Development,” from 12:30 to 1:20 p.m. in the Music building (Room 210).
