Fresno State will partner with Fresno City College for High School Journalism Day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, March 9, to present a variety of workshops relating to journalism. The event will be held at Fresno City College in the Old Administration Building. For the second year in a row, students, faculty and professionals will come together to explore topics such as multimedia, radio, broadcasting, newswriting, internships, fake news, ethics, sports, social media and making money in journalism and photography. The goal is to link local high schools and the Fresno State and Fresno City College media, communications and journalism programs to showcase career paths in the field. Aspiring young journalists can network with professionals. The event will begin with an opening session from 9 to 9:50 a.m. with a welcome, followed by a panel discussion on careers in journalism. The opening session will be followed by three workshop sessions, several of which will be led by Fresno State faculty. Last year, over 200 high school students with an interest in journalism, multimedia, advertising, print and broadcast attended. This year, more than 400 students from the Central Valley have registered. The conference is open to all high school students in Fresno, Madera, Tulare and Kings counties and is free for all participants.
