Using the latest technology, software and equipment, the program aims to familiarize students with the Engineering Design Process as the students participate in STEM academic enrichment with an emphasis in problem-based, hands-on activities, such as coding, robotics, aeronautics and the latest use of technology. The Engineering Design Process aligns with the Next Generation Science Standards and incorporates a series of steps that engineers use to guide them as they solve real-life, everyday problems. The process encourages students to ask questions, imagine a solution, plan a design, create a model, experiment and test the model and then take time to improve the original. Each activity will allow students to work in problem-solving teams as students complete innovative challenges. The Youth Technology Institute is managed through the Office of Community-Based Learning and is sponsored by the Kremen School of Education and Human Development at Fresno State in partnership with NASA MUREP Aerospace Academy.
