Japanese-American director Jon Osaki will lead a discussion following a free screening of his 2018 film “Alternative Facts: The Lies of Executive Order 9066” at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 27 in the Peters Education Center Auditorium (next to the Save-Mart Center in the Student Recreation Center Building).

A documentary about false information and racial politics, the film shows how the infamous Executive Order 9066 was signed and led to the mass incarceration of nearly 120,000 Japanese Americans during World War II. The film also explores how the miscarriage of justice parallels the current climate of fear, targeting of immigrant communities and similar attempts to abuse the powers of the U.S. government.

Parking is free after 4 p.m. on Fridays with no permit necessary in Lots P3 or P2. Sponsored by The Central California District Council of the Japanese American Citizens League and the Islamic Cultural Center of Fresno.
