President Saúl Jiménez-Sandoval ordered Fresno State’s national and state flags to be posted at half-staff on Saturday, May 29, in honor of Robert (Bob) Smittcamp, a Fresno State alumnus (1963, business administration) and friend who died on March 5 at age 79. He served on the Fresno State Foundation Board of Governors and was awarded emeritus status in 2009. He also served on the boards of directors of Saint Agnes Medical Center and American General Corp.

Flags will also remain lowered through sunset on Sunday, May 30, per a White House proclamation from President Joseph R. Biden to honor the victims of the May 26 mass shooting in San Jose. Then on Monday, May 31, flags will be lowered to half-staff until noon, then raised to full-staff until sunset for Memorial Day, one of six designated national days of remembrance.
