A team of assessors from the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators will arrive at Fresno State on May 14 to examine all aspects of the Fresno State Police Department’s policy and procedures, management, operation and support services.

The visit, which will take place the week of May 14, is part of a process to renew the department’s accreditation status – a highly prized recognition of law enforcement and public safety professional excellence.

“The assessment team is composed of experienced campus law enforcement professionals,” said Fresno State Police Lt. Jennifer Curwick. “The assessors will review written materials, interview individuals and inspect facilities where compliance can be witnessed. Once the assessors complete their review, they will report back to IACLEA, which will then determine reaccreditation status.”

As part of the review process, university personnel, students and the public are invited to offer their comments about Fresno State Police Department’s ability to comply with the standards of accreditation.  Comments can be provided to the assessment team by calling 559.278.4295 between 1 and 3 p.m. Monday, May 15. Anyone wishing to submit written comments may email them to police@csufresno.edu and your comments will be forwarded to the assessment team.

The assessment team comprises team leader Brian Seastone, University of Arizona Police Department (retired Chief of Police); and Regina Davis, Georgia State University Police Department (retired Sergeant).

Fresno State’s Police Department complies with 195 standards to maintain accredited status. Lt. Curwick is overseeing the department’s accreditation application.

“The overall process has truly been a team effort by individuals who have assisted in policy and procedure development, crafting operations procedures, organizing equipment and inventories, capital improvement projects and conducting training,” Curwick said.

Copies of the standards are available for review at the Fresno State Police Department located at 2311 E. Barstow Ave., Fresno, CA 93740. Please Contact Amy Luna at 559.278.6875.
