More than 300 volunteers, students, faculty and staff from the Jordan College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology at Fresno State will host the annual Future Farmers of America State Finals and Field Day competitions from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 20, at various locations around campus. An awards ceremony will follow at 4 p.m. at the Save Mart Center (2650 E. Shaw Ave.).

Over 2,300 high school students from 173 chapters will compete in 20 career development events that cover areas such as agronomy, agricultural pest control, dairy cattle judging, light horse judging, farm power machinery, meats judging, small engines and agricultural mechanics, soil and land evaluation, floriculture, veterinary science and more.

Registration and check-in for the event starts at 7 a.m. in the grass field on the west side of the Science 2 Building (2576 E. San Ramon Ave.).

The national FFA organization was founded in 1928 and is dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of students. Its programs in California aim to develop over 95,000 members’ potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
