Though new Ag One Foundation Board President Nick Biscay wasn’t an ag major, his family business has helped him develop deep connections to the agricultural industry.

The fourth-generation agriculturalist grew up on the west side of Madera County working with his family operation, Biscay Vineyards, that has also grown raisins, almonds, wheat and other crops since it started in 1917. Today, he still serves the family business after gaining additional experience working in the banking, insurance, sales and finance sectors throughout California and across the United States.

The 2004 Fresno State business administration and management alumnus also serves 4,000 farmers in California and Nevada as president and CEO of Stanislaus Farm Supply, a 75-year-old supply cooperative. Also the president of its charitable foundation, he has an equally strong commitment to the community and its agricultural youth, with support of FFA, 4-H and other organizations that share the same mission and values.

“Trying to produce quality wine grapes taught me the benefits of hard work, and a strong appreciation for those who labor for our food and family values, just like any farmer,” Biscay said. “Being a part of the (Ag One) board is a great way to reconnect Fresno State to the agriculture industry and offer direction on how it can evolve.”

Biscay, who is also the ex-officio chairman of the Western Plant Health Association, looks forward to a stronger connection to Fresno State, where his wife, Lauren; father, Leon; uncle, Peter; brother, Joey; and sister, Brittany, all attended, as did many of his fellow Stanislaus Farm Supply employees.

“I’m indebted to my experiences at Fresno State and in agriculture, which have connected many of my passions,” Biscay said. “Ag One has the same vision, to find ways to create more support for the students who are the future of Central Valley agriculture. Fresno State and its campus farm create important learning opportunities for our students, especially those who didn’t grow up on a farming operation, and need that career training.”

Biscay assumed his new title on July 1 and succeeded Roger Isom for a one-year term. Other newly elected executive board officers include:

  • Fendley Ragland, vice president (Fresno, PGIM Real Estate Agricultural Investments).
  • Jason Baldwin, treasurer (Kerman, Panoche Creek Packing).
  • Patrick Murphy, secretary (Fresno, HELM Agro).

In addition, new members of the 23-person board include:

  • Amy Blagg (Lodi, Lodi District Grape Growers Association).
  • Suzanne Devereaux (Fresno, American Pistachio Growers).
  • Daniel Hartwig (Fresno, California Fresh Fruit Association).
  • Chris McGlothlin (Fresno, California Cotton Ginners and Growers Association, Western Agricultural Processors Association).
  • Charlie Riddle (Bakersfield, J.G. Boswell Company).

Ag One’s first outreach event of the fall, the 47th annual Ag Boosters BBQ and Fantasy Vacation Drawing Sunday, will be on Sept. 8 at George’s River Ranch (8805 CA Highway 41).

This event and others has helped Ag One raise over $30 million since 1979 to support agricultural programs at Fresno State. For the 2024-25 academic year, Ag One will provide more than $1 million to deserving students and programs.
