Fresno State’s 15th annual Armenian Film Festival will be from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, in the Industrial Technology Building, Room 101 (southwest corner of Barstow Avenue and Campus Drive). The free, public event is co-sponsored by the Armenian Studies Program and Armenian Students Organization. The featured film making its Fresno premiere is “SaroyanLand” (2013, Turkey), directed by Lusin Dink. The docudrama focuses on the 1964 journey of William Saroyan to the birthplace of his Armenian family, Bitlis, in Turkey. The featured short film is director Anahid Nazarian’s “Shesh-Besh” (2012), shot entirely on location in Fresno, including JC & Son Automotive, an auto garage in Fresno where Armenian men and other locals gather daily for backgammon and conversation. Also showing will be “I Hate Dogs! The Last Survivor” (2005, Sweden) by directors PeA Holmquist and Suzanne Khardalian. Free parking beginning at 4 p.m. is available in Lots P20 or P23.
