El Mariachi Imperial de Mexico will present a concert on Friday, July 20, at 8 p.m. at the Tower Theater at Olive and Wishon Avenues in Fresno.

The concert, which is part of the CSU Summer Arts Festival now under way, features one of the foremost Mariachi bands in the world. The band was established in 1968 in the enchanting city of Morelia, Michoacan. Since 1989, the band has made its home in Los Angeles, where the 13 ensemble members perform each weeknight at La Fonda Restaurant de Nati Cano in the Wilshire district.

In addition to the concert on July 20, El Mariachi Imperial de Mexico will be leading a master class in Mariachi from July 15-27. There is still time to register for the class. The CSU Summer Arts Festival, hosted by Fresno State July 1 to 27, offers 35 public events throughout the community. The internationally-acclaimed residency program features 16 intensive Summer Arts workshops bringing 350 students, teachers and arts professionals from around the country and some international artists to the campus and various locations around town.
