Class of 2017 Commencement numbers
For the 2016-2017 academic year, 5,648 students completed requirements for a degree:
- 4,635 students completed their baccalaureate studies (includes 20 special majors)
- 1,013 earned post-baccalaureate degrees — 931 students earned master’s and education specialist degrees and 82 students earned doctorate degrees (23 Doctor of Nursing Practice, 25 Doctor of Education and 34 Doctor of Physical Therapy).
- 383 teacher credentials were awarded this year by the Kremen School of Education and Human Development.
For the main University Commencement ceremony at the Save Mart Center Saturday morning, 1,019 graduates walked before a crowd of 8,350.
The largest crowd gathered for the Chicano/Latino Commencement Celebration at Save Mart Center Saturday night with 14,340 in attendance to witness 1,018 participating graduates, both record numbers for the event that held its first celebration on May 20, 1977, with 57 graduates at the Fresno Fairgrounds.
