The National Association of Student Personnel Administrators has awarded Fresno State’s LGBTQ+ Programs and Services with a 2019 NASPA Award of Excellence for its Q Clothing Closet. The program was honored with a gold-level award for excellence in the International, Multicultural, Gender, LGBTQ, Spirituality, and Disability category.

The Q Clothing Closet was founded in 2018 by Fresno State’s LGBTQ+ Programs and Services of the Cross Cultural and Gender Center in partnership with the Career Development Center. The mission of the closet is to promote awareness of clothing insecurity at Fresno State, with a specific focus on transgender and gender nonconforming individuals on campus. The closet is held once a month during the semester as a “pop-up shop,” providing free clothing, shoes and accessories primarily for transgender and gender nonconforming students.

As of September 2018, Fresno State has the only clothing closet that specifically caters to the transgender and gender nonconforming community in the Fresno area. The Q Clothing Closet’s final spring pop-up shop will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, April 29 at the Thomas Administration Building in Room 110.
