First-year Coach Tim DeRuyter’s Bulldog football team achieved one of its goals by closing out the regular season with a 48-15 thumping of Air Force to claim a share of the Mountain West Conference title in Fresno State’s first year in the league.

That victory at Bulldog Stadium Saturday, Nov. 24, brought Fresno State to the conclusion of a 9-3 season. The Bulldogs were 7-1 in Mountain West play, beating co-champion San Diego State, but losing to Boise State, which could also be a co-champion with a victory over Nevada.

And the Bulldogs are bowl eligible with speculation about an appearance in Honolulu or Las Vegas later in the year.
