
Najeeba Syeed-Miller
Dr. Najeeba Syeed-Miller, director of the Center for Global Peacebuilding in Claremont, will be the keynote speaker for Fresno State’s spring semester Forum for Inclusion, Respect and Equity April 25 and 26.
“Intersectionality: Where You and I Meet—Part II, Exploring Spiritual Belief Systems” is the theme of the free public event presented by the President’s Commission on Human Relations and Equity.
Syeed-Miller, who also is an associate professor of interreligious education at the Claremont School of Theology, will kick-off the forum with a community presentation at 7 p.m. Monday in the Satellite Student Union.
As a South Asian American Muslim scholar and activist, Syeed-Miller is practiced in interfaith conversations and regarded as a leader in peacebuilding.
Tuesday’s events feature panel discussions with faculty, staff and students beginning at 8 a.m. in the Table Mountain Rancheria Reading Room on the third floor of the Henry Madden Library. At 11:30 a.m., the event moves to the SSU for a light lunch before Syeed-Miller’s campus keynote at 12:15 p.m. followed by an open dialogue at 1 p.m. with University President Dr. Joseph I. Castro.
