The Armenian Studies Program and Armenian Student Organization will commemorate the 104th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide at the Armenian Genocide Monument at noon on Wednesday, April 24, at the Maple Mall (south of the Satellite Student Union).

At 6 p.m., the Armenian Genocide Commemorative Committee of Fresno invites the community as participants will lay flowers around the center of the monument, which will be followed by a religious service. The Armenian genocide essay competition winners will present their keynote speeches, followed by remarks from Fresno State President Dr. Joseph I. Castro.

The events mark the anniversary of the April 24, 1915, arrests of Armenian intellectuals and leaders by the Ottoman Empire, marking the beginning of a genocide in which 1.5 million Armenians were killed. Parking will be relaxed in the evening in lots P1, P5 and P6.
