The Fresno State Global Agriculture and Food Security Initiative will host a virtual presentation entitled “Mexico — a Bit of History, Agriculture Potential and Huge Challenges” from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, at Music Building (Room 160). The lecture by researcher Dr. Lourdes Arévalo — available in person or via Zoom— will touch on the growth potential of a variety of Mexican crops and related government programs. Arévalo works at the Colegio de Postgraduados in Mexico and serves as a visiting research scientist at the USDA San Joaquin Valley Agricultural Sciences Center in Parlier. Arévalo has research experience tied to the physiology of horticultural crops, postharvest technology of cut and pot flowers and quarantine treatments.
