Fresno State students nearing graduation have another tool to help them earn a degree with the announcement of the Provost Graduation Initiative providing sponsorships of up to $1,260 to attend summer courses.

The application deadline is April 1, with several information sessions scheduled March 10, 14 and 20 (times below).

Funded by the Office of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and coordinated through the Division of Continuing and Global Education, the program will provide qualified students with sponsorships to attend undergraduate courses offered through CGE during the May-June Intersession and the Summer Session.

“Fresno State is committed to supporting our students on their pathway to graduation,” said Dr. Lynnette Zelezny, provost and vice president for academic affairs.  “This initiative is yet another important tool to help our students graduate in a timely manner.”

To qualify, students must have undergraduate status and be enrolled at Fresno State during the fall 2015 or spring 2016 semester, be in good academic standing and have completed at least 80 units.

“This funding is designed to help students close to graduating who could really benefit from taking an Intersession or Summer Session course,” said Scott Moore, dean of Continuing and Global Education. “In many cases, completing a course during the summer means a student could graduate more quickly, thereby saving on tuition costs and joining the workforce sooner.”

Information sessions for students interested in applying for the funding are scheduled in Kremen Education, Room 140:

  • Thursday, March 10 (3 – 4 p.m.)
  • Monday, March 14 (noon – 1 p.m.)
  • Tuesday, March 29 (10 – 11 a.m.)
  • Tuesday, March 29 (1:30 – 2:30 p.m.)
